NEWARK, N.J., March 17, 2010 – The New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s Alternate Routes series teams up genre-bending singer-songwriter, Toshi Reagon, and her band, BIGLovely, with her mother, the composer/scholar/teacher and founder of Sweet Honey in the Rock, Bernice Johnson Reagon, for one night only, Saturday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Victoria Theater. NEWARK, N.J., March 15, 2010 — The 2010 Census will be explained and discussed in the context of the LGBT community at todays town hall meeting in Newark, New Jersey, hosted by Liberation in Truth Unity Fellowship Church. This event is part of the U.S. Census Bureau’s dedicated outreach program to the LGBT community, and will allow community members the opportunity to have their questions answered by a panel of Census staff, community leaders, local organizers and civic officials. The town hall format promotes an open environment for discussion of specific concerns and reinforces the message that the participation of the LGBT community is vital to ensure that the 2010 Census is complete and accurate.
