Lincoln Park Community Farm Provides Fresh Produce to Newark

NEWARK, N.J., July 19, 2010 – Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) joined by Joe Atchison of the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Jazz trumpeter James Gibbs III of the 5th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival, FEMWORKS, and Newark’s Harvest Table Restaurant launched the Lincoln Park Community Farm (LPCF) last week. Paying only $20 a week, a long list of residents have become members in the farm’s community supported agriculture (CSA) program. Through the CSA, city residents receive a share of the harvest every week from July through late September 2010. “The Lincoln Park Community Farm is an impressive example of what urban farming can be in New Jersey,” stated Joe Atchison. – Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) will host a launch event for its latest green lifestyle initiatives, the Lincoln Park Community Farm and “Get Your Share” community supported agriculture (CSA) program, on Wednesday, July 14 from 6pm-8pm. The Lincoln Park Community Farm is an affordable resource for fresh food, locally grown in Newark. A membership in the CSA is only $20 a week and Family First cards are welcome. Status Is Everything will represent Newark at the XVIII Annual International AIDS Conference in Vienna

NEWARK, N.J., July 6, 2010 – The African American Office of Gay Concerns (AAOGC) is proud to announce that the XVIII International AIDS Conference taking place in Vienna, Austria July 18-23, 2010, has selected the Status Is Everything HIV testing social marketing campaign to take part in the conference poster exhibition on July 19, 2010. The AAOGC poster is titled, “Creating a social marketing campaign targeting African American men who have sex with men (MSM) in Newark, New Jersey, in an effort to increase HIV rapid testing within a high risk population.” AAOGC is the only agency funded by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, selected to take part in the six-day conference.

Fathers Now Hosts the Documentary Premier of “Man-Up: The Exploration of a Fatherless Nation”

NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 18, 2010 - Newark Comprehensive Center for Fathers (“Fathers Now”) has teamed up with Newark Museum and Gradygirl Productions to present the documentary premier of “Man Up: The Exploration of a Fatherless Nation” for FREE on Thursday, Feb. 25, 6:00pm at the Newark Museum auditorium. Booker and the LGBTQ Commission will kick-off “Status Is Everything”, a pioneering, Newark, NJ focused HIV testing social marketing campaign targeting African American men who have sex with men, aged 18-24. This is the first New Jersey public health campaign of its kind to utilize social media and text messaging to provide residents 24-hour instant access to local HIV/STD testing centers – text NJ+YourZipCode (NJ07102) to 36363. 1-866-HIV-CHECK access is provided by the New Jersey HIV/STD hotline.

Groove Evolution Music Fest Supports Haitian Orphans & Artworks for Youth

NEW YORK, N.Y., January 21, 2010 – Groove Evolution Music (GEM) Festival (www.grooveevolutionfest.com), founded by Sky Dietrich, vocalist of the band Sky D and LeGrange Evolution (www.skydandlegrange.com), is creating a new paradigm shift in charitable partnerships. GEM’s mission is to benefit local and international non-profit communities from New York City to Europe to South Africa.
